Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Q1.How is the figurative language used in the poem?
Give the specific word(s), explain what type of figurative language it is and why the poet chose to use this figurative language?
Answer: Figurative language is used in this poem to describe the author's emotions. It describes the author’s feelings taking the road less travelled by. Symbolism is used in this poem. It describes the different elements affecting his decisions as well as his emotions.
Q2.Tell us why you like this poem in no less than 100 words.
Answer: This poem uses figurative language in an interesting way. It uses metaphors and similes to more effectively describe the author's decision to take the road less travelled. This poem can be applied to a person's life. The traveler is a person who has two choices, which are represented in the poem by the two roads in the woods. The person takes the time to consider both choices and all sides to them by examining the paths. The traveler cannot come back to the other road because in real life, time cannot be reversed. In this case, the person takes the path where “few travelled by”.
Q3. What are the teacher’s impressions of the students in the poem? Comment on the effectiveness of the strategies used by the teacher to maintain discipline in class. (With Reference to The Lesson by Roger McGough)
Answer: The teacher sees the students as naughty and disrespectful and that they need to be taught a lesson. The teacher does not care the least for the students and uses violence to teach them a lesson. The teacher's strategy has both good and bad points. It can teach the students not to be so naughty and disrespectful. However, it may teach the students that violence is the answer to everything, which is wrong. Thus, this method may not be effective. It is also considered “ruling with fear”. A teacher should be teaching the students to be respectful without using violence.

Holidays :X
March March
Can't wait for March holidays, just another week more and I'll be free. Sort of at least, from school but not homework. It's weird but sometimes even though I look forward to holidays, during the holidays I've nothing to do. The homework now is quite alright and manageable, not much interesting things either. It's just school everyday. Go to school, have lessons, get homework, get projects, go home, and repeat. Actually I haven't even planned anything for the March holidays, but I think it'll be fun. Maybe some cycling or rollerblading, or just playing computer games. maybe i won't have time to do that, just dedicate time to do homework. Guess not for me. I think I will be going to Sakae Sushi to have a buffet and get lots of raw seafood =D and have lots of midnight snacks too =)))))
Happy (or maybe not so happy) Holidays : )

CCA first day...
I just got in Chinese Orchestra. It was my first choice, so I guess I'm lucky. Friday, which is today, is the first day of my CCA. I placed my interested choice of instrument as the pipa, which is a string instrument like a guitar. However, I was transferred over the the yang qin section, because there were too many people doing the pipa. The yang qin is actually a big cube-like structure with many strings on it and to play it, you are supposed to hit it with two sticks (or whatever it is) to produce a sharp and clear sound. There are many strings on this instrument and it looked difficult at first, however, after learning the basics, I discovered it was not as difficult as I thought. So I spent the rest of the time playing the yang qin. Thereafter, I was dismissed. Quite a short day actually though... (and this is a short post too, quite, at least)
Yep, lots of homework for the weekend too. Got to do a recording for AAP.

Long weekends : )
Sorry for not posting for so long and dragging till now, but as everyone should know, it was Chinese New Year. So this post will tell you about what I did during Chinese New Year. On Friday, I did my AAP HW (yes, the recording to be handed up by noon sharp on Saturday).
Saturday was the day for my cousins to come to my house to have dinner. So in the morning I was busy preparing too, together with my siblings and parents. We prepared a whole lot of dishes, like braise duck and sea cucumber, fish maw soup, desserts, etc. By 5pm, the guest had already arrived so we started eating and playing games. I spent most of the time eating as there was so much food and my favourite food, squid, was there too. However, I also spent quite a lot of time playing poker cards too (that's the only time of the year when I play that, when I'm too free). I also spent some time playing computer games, but time flies when you're having fun, so soon it was 12midnight and my cousins had to go. After bathing, all of us promptly slept to prepare for the next day.
Sunday, we visited our relatives on this day. After each of us took two oranges, we set off to visit our relatives. First up was my grandmother's sister, who gave us hongbaos when we reached there, even before we gave her our oranges. After that was my maternal uncles, one was a owner of a stationery shop, and he always gave us lots of stuff when we went to his house. After that, we continued to visit some of our relatives and then reached home by 4pm. The rest of the day was just doing homework and playing computer games.
Monday, I visited my maternal relatives for steamboat in the afternoon. I had a whale of a time there, eating and talking and receiving red packets. There was heaps of food like sea cucumber, squid and even raw salmon. Spent the whole time eating while watching the TV. After that, we left the house and set off to visit our paternal relatives for a reunion dinner. To eat the 鱼生(余升) was my favourite part. I grabbed all the raw fish for myself (anyway, none of my cousins liked raw fish). Later was the dinner, which consisted of the 8 treasures pot, shark fin soup and a few other dishes. We also watched the movie (not Avatar) Where got Ghost. Despite it being a horror and comedy movie, it was more hilarious that scary and everyone laughed throughout. After that I played mahjong with my sister and cousins and my brothers played Chinese Chess. The rest stayed downstairs watching the television. I played till midnight, and then we left for home.
Tuesday, which is today, I woke up eating breakfast, then switched on the computer to do this blog post, which I am still doing and going to end.
Yes that's all bye (wow long post)

Official post TWO (i din count the first one, it's too short)
Haven't posted for a week because I was busy with work (yes, it makes u scared too rite?)
So far it's ok, as in the fact that the amount of homework is not too much. But my old classmates are all complaining about being flooded with homework, especially the RI guys. I'm looking forward to going back to school on 12 feb. It's CNY, so i guess it's half-day in HCI. Then i take bus 74 to rosyth wif my friends in HCI to Rosyth School (my old school). Unfortunately not because i miss the teachers. I just want to go rosyth to meet up with my old friends. We are considering having a gathering after the visit, but it's not decided yet. looking forward to CNY too, i like eating yu sheng.
gtg, bye
